Mary and I did not know each other in high school, we actually met 24 years after graduation while working for the same company. We've all had getting to know you conversations with co-workers and that's how we discovered that we lived almost around the corner from each other, went to Custer High School, I graduated in January and Mary graduated in June of 1963.

We became the best of friends for 17 years.  Mary was intelligent, had a great sense of humor, loved pulling pranks on people, loved words, had the bluest eyes you've ever seen, her favorite receipe was 3 ingredients or less.  She created the product brochures and technical manuals for every piece of food service equipment we manufactured; she confessed that she had wanted to be a design engineer.  Mary won her battle with breast cancer but unfortunately passed away almost seven years later when "it" reappeared in her lungs.  I was blessed to know Mary for 17 years. . .it would have been great to celebrate 50+ years of friendship with her this year.
