I met Dick when we were in the same class at Edison(7th grade) by the time we got to Custer , Dick and I were great friends. I loved drag racing and so did Dick, Ed  Raider, Dick, and myself went and got our SS numbers on the same day when we turned 16. All 3 of our SS numbers were the same except for the last digit, Dick went on to work at Continental Can Co. and I went self-employed, we stayed best of friends until he passed away from a massive heart attack on December 17th 2009. Dick and I would still talk and reminisce about cars and girls on the phone about 4 times a week. He lived in Hartford and I live in Crivitz. He loved his classic cars as much as I loved mine, we would do car shows right up to the time he died.

Richard (Dick) Boettcher passed away on December 17th, 2009 of a sudden heart attack.  In 1969 he married Terry Otto and they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in May of 2009.  They had two daughters, Lynne and Kelly and built a home together in Hartford in 1976 where he lived until the day he died.  He also had four grandchildren. Dick worked at Continental Can Company in Milwaukee for several years until the plant closed in the early 90s.  He then took a part-time job at the Town of Hartford managing the recycling facility.  Although he passed away at the young age of 64, Dick was able to do many things he's always wanted to do and live life how he wanted to.  He liked to travel, loved fast cars (bought a few sports cars in his day and some collectors too), went to car shows with his cars and his long time best friend Bruce Staedler, rode his motorcycle up until the day he passed and spent time enjoying life.

My father often talked fondly of his time at Custer and of all the friends and acquaintances he met. He is greatly missed by his family and friends and will live on forever in our hearts.
